Moving House Checklist

Sort through your belongings and decide what to keep, donate, or discard.

Schedule your moving date with your chosen moving company.

Contact your utility providers to arrange for disconnection at your current home and connection at your new home.

Update your address with relevant institutions, including banks, subscriptions, and government agencies.

Pack a box of essentials, including toiletries, medications, and important documents, for easy access on moving day.

Label each box with its contents and destination room to facilitate the unpacking process. Begin packing non-essential items, such as seasonal clothing and decorative items, several weeks before your move. Pack valuables, such as jewelry and important documents, separately and keep them with you during the move if possible. Take inventory of your belongings as you pack to ensure that everything arrives safely at your new home. Pack an unpacking kit with essential tools and supplies, such as box cutters and tape, for easy access.

Arrange transportation for yourself, your family, and your pets to your new home.

Defrost and clean your refrigerator and freezer several days before your move. Disconnect and prepare appliances, such as washing machines and dishwashers, for transportation.

Take time to say goodbye to your old home and neighbors before you leave. Take a final reading of the meters (take a photo for proof with timestamp)

Finally, arrive at your new home and begin the exciting process of settling in and making it your own.
